1. What is a Virtual Dedicated Server?
Our FreeBSD based VirtualBSD operating system divides a single machine into multiple, virtual machines. Each individual Virtual Server contains all of the core services required for Internet operations, including dedicated web, mail and ftp servers with full access to your own configuration files.
2. Do I need to know Unix in order to configure my MicroRack Virtual Dedicated Server?
No. Our virtual servers are very easy to administrate. With our unique web interface you can set up e-mail accounts, add new FTP and POP users, view disk space usage and log files, add directories, edit files and keep track of your accounts.
3. How long does it take to set up a new MicroRack server?
Your new server will be set up within 24 hours of processing your payment.
4. What kind of hit volume can a MicroRack Server take?
There are no preset bandwidth restrictions imposed on your server. However, the virtual server technology is a medium size solution. Those who have web sites experiencing over 100,000 hits per day should consider upgrading to a Microrack Virtual Dedicated Server.
MicroRack Virtual Servers and can handle a hit load upto 4,000,000 hits per month, more than 130,000 hits per day. This includes all of the Web sites hosted on your virtual server not just your primary one.
5. How many Virtual Dedicate Servers are located on one physical server?
There are usually 20-30 Virtual Dedicated Servers configured on each physical server, depending on the load and the assigned disk space.
6. What's the difference between the old HERA VS and the MicroRack server system?
The MicroRack server line is newer and based on the FreeBSD 7.x release, while the HERA VS system uses older FreeBSD versions. In addition to a more scalable design, the MicroRack servers allow real root access to the virtual dedicated server. While the number of domains is limited on the HERA VS systems, there is no domain limit on the MicroRack servers.
7. Do you offer Windows NT/2000/XP based accounts or servers?
No, we don't offer Windows based solutions.
8. Can I have adult content on my server or account?
No, we do not host any adult content.
9. Can I install an IRC client or server? Can I run IRC bots?
No. IRC clients, servers or bots are not allowed on our systems.
10. Do you provide dial-up Internet access?
No. You will need local Internet access like Earthlink or Comcast in order to maintain your Web site and retrieve email addressed to your site.
11. What is your spam and bulk e-mail policy?
We have strict policies against spamming and bulk e-mail. Users who spam via e-mail, newsgroups, etc. are not allowed on our Web servers.Forward to Getting Started
